Weddings FAQ
Question #1: What do you consider your photography style to be?
My style is a photojournalistic style with an artistic feel. As a part of my style I will not step in front of the audience during the ceremony and I will not make someone move just to get a better photo as I feel it is rude to do so. I use flash almost exclusively to produce the brightest, sharpest photos I can and will set up remote lights if required for better lighting during the ceremony. The exception to this is I will never use flash on a darkened dance floor or if the facility disallows it.
Question #2: Do you shoot color, black and white, or both?
I shoot 100% digital in color and give a set in color in every package. I will provide additional sets in black and white and/or color-toned black and white for an additional charge as explained on my Digital Services page. I hand convert each photo to black and white in photoshop as I have found any automated method returns sub-standard results.
Question #3: Do you bring an assistant or second photographer?
I do not.
Question #4: Do you work well with videographers?
Yes.
I only have two requests. First, that they do not use additional lighting as that can interrupt the successful capture of still photos, and second, that they do not step into my frame of view during the formal ceremony.
Question #5: Do you correct your photos?
I prefer to limit my use of photoshop as each time you touch-up a photo the image loses detail that can not be replaced. Digital correction is a tool, not a replacement for good work. My goal is turn out printable photos straight from my camera 100% of the time and I constantly work to improve myself with this in mind.
Although I will correct obvious color casts, adjust the brightness, and change a photo as necessary, in the end a beige wall will never look white just like a dark room will never be bright.
Question #6: Will I receive a disk containing high resolution copies of my images?
This is covered under each package listing on my Weddings page.
Question #7: Are you willing to have input on the photos that we want?
I encourage it. Wedding are often full of events and there is more to photograph than there is time. In order to understand your schedule and the people and events that are important to you I will provide you with a checklist of common wedding events and activities well before the day of the event for you to return to me.
I also will work with you to make sure your day fits your view of your photos by explaining to you how little things like pacing and positioning, the number lights you turn on, locations of flowers and how the audience is sitting affects what can be captured and how the photos will look.
Question #8: Are you the actual photographer who will be shooting on my wedding day?
Yes.
Question #9: Are you familiar with my ceremony/reception site?
I grew up in the Liberty, Missouri area and still do not know every location in the town. If I have not previously been to your ceremony location I will request early access to become familiar with the layout and to setup my equipment if formal photos are being taken prior to the ceremony. I do not charge extra to do this.
Question #10: What comes in my photography package?
Refer to my Weddings page. If you do not see a specific product or service you are interested in I will discuss creating a custom package with you.
Question #11: Do you have any sample photos I can look at?
My wedding samples section includes entire weddings to give you a feel of the entire day, not just my perfect or favorite shots. I have found that many photographers only show a handful of their best photos which gives you a false view of their work.
